The Boys & Girls Clubs of Wichita Falls is proud to announce the April Youths of the Month. Francisco Senghor, of the Northwest Branch, is the Kiwanis Club of Wichita Falls Youth of the Month. Marisa Esquivel, of the Southeast Branch, is the Optimist Club of Wichita Falls Youth of the Month. Kynyara Lewis, of the Southeast Branch, is the Rotary Club of Wichita Falls Youth of the Month.

Service clubs sponsor three age divisions. Kiwanis Club of Wichita Falls sponsors 6-8 year olds. Optimist of Wichita Falls sponsors 9-11 year olds. Rotary Club of Wichita Falls sponsors 12-18 year olds.

Interviewers were Tricia Golding Representing the Rotary Club of Wichita Falls and Cosme Ojeda representing the Optimist Club of Wichita Falls considered the following attributes while selecting the City Wide Youths of the Month:

Francisco SenghorFrancisco Senghor is the eight year old son of Bilal and Paige Senghor. He attends the Northwest Branch where Mr. Jerry Taylor is Club Director.

Francisco has one fifteen year old brother and a two sisters who are 2 and 13. He is very helpful around the house and enjoys helping mom keep track of his little brother who is into everything. Additional duties include taking out the trash, washing the dishes, and keeping his room clean. Francisco also helps with the family pet and yard work.

Francisco attends Texas Virtual Academy Elementary as a 3rd grade student where he proudly maintains A’s on his report card. He enjoys Science class more than any other class and says, “School is important so I can learn and be a better person!”

As a member of the BGCWF for two years, Francisco enjoys participating in all areas of the Club. He especially enjoys the Fine Arts Program. His monochromatic drawing “DJ Jam Bot” has won awards at local and regional exhibits and is now going on to Nationals in Atlanta, Georgia. He is also involved in Triple Play Challenges, Smart Moves, and Healthy Habits.

Director Jerry Taylor said, “Francisco always has a smile to share and is very helpful.”


Marisa Esquivel lMarisa Esquivel is the 10 year old daughter of Jose & Mayra Esquivel. She attends the Southeast Branch of the Boys & Girls Club where Ms. Charlene Vomastek is Director.

Marisa has two brothers ages 2 and 8. She is a big help to her mom when it comes to helping keep up with her younger siblings. She also helps by keeping the house and her room cleaned, helping with kitchen duties, and putting up her own laundry. She also puts the trash out on pick up days.

As a 4th grader at Jefferson Elementary, Marisa maintains an above average 3.5 GPA. Math is her favorite subject and was recently recognized for excellence in math receiving a medallion and certificate for participation in the Duke University TIP program. Marisa said, “I believe school is important because it helps me become smarter in life.”

Marisa has been a Boys & Girls Club member for the past 2 years and participates in the Learning/Tech Center, games room, and the Creative Center. She participates in Project Learn, Power Hour, Club Tech, Triple Play Challenges, and basketball in the gym. She is also a Jr. Staffer and has enjoys the reading programs while at the Club.

Director Charlene Vomastek said, “Marisa is a well-mannered young lady respected by all who know her!”


Kynyara LewisKynyara Lewis is the 15 year old daughter of Johnny & Teeshia Lewis. She attends the Southeast Branch of the Boys & Girls Club where Ms. Charlene Vomastek is Director.

Kynyara is the “baby” of 3 sisters. The others are 23 and 25 years old. Kynyara’s mom has been a CNA for over 15 years. She is now going back to school to become an RN. Kynyara helps her mom, who works and goes to school and clinicals, by keeping the house clean. She also helps with meal preparations, cleaning up afterwards, laundry, and taking care of the family pet. She also takes out the trash for pick up and helps with elderly family members.

Kynyara has attended Victory Baptist Church for the past seven years. She is a very morally upright young woman and chooses to do the right things based on her spiritual beliefs. She is also a civic minded teenager who has been active in a number of organizations including Girls Scouts, Campfire, Southside Youth Center, and a regular at the annual Teens Make a Difference.

Kynyara goes to Wichita Falls High School where she is a 10th grade student and maintaining a 3.5 + GPA. Her favorite subject is Social Science. She participates as a class representative on the student council, is a member of the debate and drama clubs. Kynyara also plays on the volleyball, softball, and basketball teams. She believes you’ll have a better life if you are educated and school will open doors of opportunity for her. She is interested in cosmetology and wants to study to become a physician. She is also active in Art and Spanish Clubs.

Ms. Lewis is proud to be a Club Kid and has been involved in a variety of Club Programs over her ten years of membership to include Torch Club, Keystone Club, Club Tech, Power Hour, and reading programs. She is also a participant in Triple Play Challenges, Healthy Habits, and swimming. She has also enjoyed programs while attending Graham Ball Summer Camp at Lake Kickapoo.

Club Director Charlene Vomastek said, “Kynyara is an amazing youth leader as well as mentor!”
