The Boys & Girls Clubs of Wichita Falls is proud to announce February Youths of the Month. DeAdrian West, of the Southeast Branch, is the Kiwanis Club of Wichita Falls Youth of the Month. Alexis  Swearingen, from the Southwest Branch, is the Optimist Club of Wichita Falls Youth of the Month. Dymeterion Wade, from the Northwest Branch, is the Rotary Club of Wichita Falls Youth of the Month.

Service clubs sponsor three age divisions. Kiwanis Club of Wichita Falls sponsors 6-8 year olds. Optimist of Wichita Falls sponsors 9-11 year olds. Rotary Club of Wichita Falls sponsors 12-18 year olds.
Interviewers Lisa Stephens/Musick(Rotary Club of Wichita Falls) and John Luig (Optimist Club of Wichita Falls) considered the following attributes while selecting the City Wide Youths of the Month:

DeAdrian WestDeAdrian is the 7 year old son of Natasha West. He attends the Southeast Branch where Mrs. Charlene Vomastek is the Club Director.

DeAdrian has two brothers and two sisters. His regular duties are taking out the trash and vacuuming. He also helps keep the house and his bedroom picked up and clean.

As a 1st grade student at Southern Hills Elementary, DeAdrian maintains and A/B report card. His favorite class is Math and he believes school is important because it makes him smarter.

DeAdrian has been attending the Southeast Branch for one year. He enjoys participating in the annual Fine Arts Exhibit, the Photography Program, and is active in the Computer Tech Program. He can also be found taking part in Power Hour, reading programs, Power Hour Homework help, and Triple Play games in the gym.

Branch Director Charlene Vomastek said, “DeAdrian has a great sense of humor and a lot of love to give along with a lot of energy!”


Alexis SwearingenAlexis is the 9 year old daughter of Corey Swearingen and Amanda Swanson. She attends the Southwest Branch of the Boys & Girls Club where Mrs. Tori Smith is Director.

Alexis is a big help to her mother. Some of her responsibilities at home include helping around the house, keeping her room clean, helping with kitchen duties, washing dishes, and helping to prepare meals. The family has two dogs and a lot of cats which she is responsible for their food and water!  Finally, she also takes out the trash.

Alexis is a new five year member of the First Baptist Church in Burkburnett. She goes with her grandma four times each month and enjoys being a part of the church’s Sunday school and Children’s Church. Alexis also sings in the choir and likes to be in the church plays.

As a 3rd grader at Cunningham Elementary School, Alexis maintains an A/B average. She enjoys Science says she loves doing experiments and learning about animals. She is a member of the choir. Alexis plans to attend MSU and hopes to be in the Health Care profession as a nurse.

Alexis has been a Boys & Girls Club member for the past two years and is active in various programs and activities. Her favorite past time is helping out behind the front desk as a Jr. Staffer serving her peers and acting as greeter when parents and new members come into the Club. She especially likes playing foosball and running games room tournaments.   As a member of the Beginner’s Sign Language Club, Alexis is learning a skill that she feels will help her no matter what career field she ends up in. She is also in the Torch Club.

Director Tori Smith said, “Alexis is active, happy and a loving young lady!


Dymeterion WadeDymeterion is the 15 year old son of Latoya Kornegay. He has attended the Northwest Branch for the past eight years and attended the Southeast Club for approximately two years. As a veteran member of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Wichita Falls, his achievements and participation have been many. Dymeterion is a recipient of the Ralph Donnell Volunteer of the Year Award and is also in leadership positions in the Torch and Keystone Leadership Clubs. His list of involvements includes the Football Program, the annual Dove/Deer hunts, Torch Club, Keystone Club, Power Hour, Tutorial Program, Fine Arts, Photography, Triple Play gym activities, Healthy Habits, Smart Moves, Reading Programs, and Passport to Manhood. Dymeterion is also a Junior Staff member and very helpful serving his peers and setting an example of leadership. He somehow finds time to offer his assistance as a Teens Make a Difference Day volunteer.

Dymeterion attends Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church and is involved with the Church’s Youth Group. He has been a member for 15 years.  He attributes his outstanding volunteer record and service to his Club and community to his church and the Boys & Girls Club.

Dymeterion is a ninth grader at Hirschi High School and is maintaining a 3.06 GPA. He is a fan of Mathematics and History and has a history of helping those less fortunate than himself to understand subject matter. Dymeterion is interested in continuing in the field of youth development and intends to base his course of study so that he can improve on the leadership he has demonstrated in the Club setting.

Branch Staff said, “Dymeterion has logged over 700 hours of volunteer time working with staff and members. He has a strong desire to help our staff members”.
