The Boys & Girls Clubs of Wichita Falls is proud to announce city wide July Youths of the Month.

Noah Herring, from the Southeast Branch, is the Kiwanis Club of Wichita Falls Youth of the Month. True P. Johnson, fromthe Northwest Branch, is the Optimist Club of Wichita Falls Youth of the Month. Serena Genus, fromthe Northwest Branch, is the Rotary Club of Wichita Falls Youth of the Month.

Service Clubs sponsor three age divisions. They are Kiwanis Club of Wichita Falls sponsors 6-8 year olds. Optimist of Wichita Falls sponsors 9-11 year olds. Rotary Club of Wichita Falls sponsors 12-18 year olds.

Interviewers were Francine Carraro (Rotary Club of Wichita Falls) and Dwayne Davis (Optimist Club of Wichita Falls). They considered the following attributes while selecting the City Wide Youths of the Month:

Noah HerringNoah Herring is the six year old son of Randy and Stephanie Herring. Noah attends the Southeast Branch where Mrs. Charlene Vomastek is Club Director.

Noah has one older sister and three brothers. Noah is very helpful around the house and yard. He enjoys helping his mom and dad any way he can. Additional duties include taking care of the family pet and watching out for his younger brother.

Noah proudly announces he is an all A-student at City View Elementary. His favorite class is reading and he says school is important because “I can get smarter!”

During his visits to the Boys & Girls Club, Noah enjoys participating in all areas of the Club. Club Director Charlene Vomastek said, “Noah is a sweet kid who gets along with all of his peers and is well behaved.”


True P. JohnsonTrue P. Johnson is the nine year old granddaughter of Jerome and Ella Spann. She attends the Northwest Branch of the Boys & Girls Club where Mr. Jerry Taylor is Director.

True P. has two sisters. She helps her grandmother with a variety of responsibilities at home to including helping with kitchen duties, cleaning up after meals, dishwashing, and helping to keep the house clean. True also helps take care of her great grandmother.

True P. has attended the Church of the Living God Pillar Ground of the Truth for all of her nine years. She goes with her Grandparents every Sunday. She is a member of the children’s choir, Sunday school, and youth group!

True P. is a 5th grader at Roberta Tipps Elementary School in Mansfield, Texas where she maintains an A average. Mathematics is her favorite subject because she enjoys figuring things out. True P. is a member of the school’s computer and chess Clubs. She hopes to become a math teacher someday and help students understand how to do the math.

True P. has been attending the Boys & Girls Club for the past four years and is active in a variety of summer programs and activities. Her favorite past time is participating in the Arts and Crafts Program where she unleashes her creative talents through drawing and painting. She also enjoys the Learning Center where computer tech programs are going on. Other programs that True P. enjoys include serving as a peer-leader, Smart Girls, Reading, Triple Play Challenges in the gym, and swimming at the Central Branch.

Director Charlene Vomastek said, “True P. is a great example of a true Boys & Girls Club member with a positive attitude and a strong religious belief system!”


Serena GenusSerena Genus is 17 years old. She is the daughter of Evonne Genus and has two brothers.

Serena helps her mother by keeping the house and her room clean. She also helps with meal preparations as well as cleaning up afterwards. Serena is very helpful and keeps a watchful eye on her younger brother by helping to keep him out of trouble.

Serena has attended St. Paul Baptist Church for the past seven years. She attends with her parents and is involved in Sunday school, choir, and the church youth group. Serena has served as a volunteer on various church committees and as also as an usher. Serena is also active at Straight Street and has volunteered for Teens Make a Difference Day and the Hotter’N Hell Bike Event.

Serena is a 12th grade student at Hirschi High School. Her favorite subject is English and she says she believes school is important because higher education leads to better technology, conflict resolution, and peace. She hopes to attain a Ph.D. and to serve in the education field. Serena is also a student athlete participating in Hirschi’s Basketball and Track Programs. She is the highest ranking ROTC Non-Commissioned Officer at Hirschi.

Serena has been just as involved as Club member for the past eight years participating in all areas of the Club. She has received many awards for her work in the annual Photography Program. Serena has honed her leadership skills as a member of the Jr. Staff and Peer Leader Programs as well as helping younger children in the Power Hour Homework Assistance Program.

Club Director Jerry Taylor said, “Serena is an asset in all areas of the Club always encouraging other members to be respectful and follow directions.”
