Alumni & Friends

Many people think we are another branch of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Wichita Falls, but we are not! As an autonomous entity, we are an established nonprofit with our own 501 c(3) status. Established in 1975, the Alumni & Friends Association averages apprximately 250 members per year, with a governing Board of Directors of about 20 key individuals. Members of this organization tend to be former “Club Kids”, however, membership is opened up to anyone who is a friend of youth! The purpose of the Alumni & Friends is to support the efforts of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Wichita Falls and their Staff Team through financial and volunteer assistance.

Special Projects For The Alumni And Friends Page

Special Projects

The Alumni & Friends assist in many special projects to benefit the youth of the BGCWF. Examples of such projects include:

Purchase & donation of needed Club equipment (i.e. Air-conditioning in the club’s gyms, commercial refrigerator at the CN Club, and a hot water heater for the SW Club), renovations at Camp Graham Ball (including covered awnings over the playground, upgrades to the restrooms, and providing air-conditioning in the cabins and cafeteria), and we sponsor all food at Camp Graham Ball. We are responsible for installing a new deck for fishing & kayaking at Camp, purchasing of golf carts for the Athletic program and Camp, we contributed significant funds towards the renovations of the Central Club’s main gym and locker rooms, and we even contributed $500,000 towards the building of the new Eastside Club. These are just to name a few of the things we have done to help create brighter futures for the youth!

Legacy Dinner & Auction

In partnership with the Maverick’s of Wichita Falls, the Alumni & Friends Association host a live auction and dinner each year to raise funds to present college scholarships to deserving former Club Kids. A&F Board Members work hard through the year to secure highly sought after live and silent auction items to put out to bid at the event, and they also secure a list of generous sponsors. As part of the program, we recognize a keynote speaker, honor two Legacy Honorees (who have demonstrated exceptional acts of support towards the youth we serve), and we honor one Distinguished Alumnus. We also recognize as many of our college scholarship recipients at the event.

At this past event, hosted in September of 2024, we honored Doyle Bentley and Leo Lane as our Legacy Honorees, Amy Simmons was named the Josh T. Kimbrough Distinguished Alumnus, the event was MC’d by Big Jim Russell, and Mickey Gee was our Auctioneer for the night. It was a great time of fun and laughter, and thousands of dollars were raised to help us aid and support the youth of this community.
