The Boys & Girls Clubs of Wichita Falls is proud to announce December Youths of the Month. Sawyer Easley, of the Southwest Branch, is the Kiwanis Club of Wichita Falls Youth of the Month. Sidni Rath, from the Southwest Branch, is the Optimist Club of Wichita Falls Youth of the Month. Jasmin Vasquez, from the Southwest Branch, is the Rotary Club of Wichita Falls Youth of the Month.
Service clubs sponsor three age divisions. Kiwanis Club of Wichita Falls sponsors 6-8 year olds. Optimist of Wichita Falls sponsors 9-11 year olds. Rotary Club of Wichita Falls sponsors 12-18 year olds.
Interviewers Kathie Forehand Chaddick (Rotary Club of Wichita Falls) and Steve Beggs (Optimist Club of Wichita Falls) considered the following attributes while selecting the City Wide Youths of the Month:

Sawyer Easley is the 8 year old son of Kyle Porter and Kristey Easley. He attends the Southwest Branch where Ms. Tori Smith is the Club Director.
Sawyer has one sister and two brothers. He helps with many household chores including keeping his room clean, sweeping, vacuuming and helping with the laundry. Sawyer helps his mom in the kitchen cooking, helping with washing dishes, and takes out the trash regularly. He also helps in with the yard work and taking care of the family dog.
Sawyer is a 1st grade student at Jefferson Elementary and keeps an A average report card. His favorite class is Mathematics. He feels that school is important “because I’m going to have to do things when I get bigger!”
Sawyer has been attending the Southwest Branch for two years. He enjoys arts and crafts, photography, and learning in the Learning Center. He is involved in Power Hour Homework Help and Club Tech daily. Sawyer is also a Peer Leader and is always active helping others as a Jr. Staffer. Swimming in the pool at Central in the summertime is one of his favorite activities.
Branch Director Tori Smith said, “Sawyer is frequently found stepping up to help his friends resolve problems!”
Sidni Rath is the 12 year old daughter of stepfather Matt and mother Bobbi Harrell. Her paternal father is Joe Rath. She attends the Southwest Branch of the Boys & Girls Club where Mrs. Tori Smith is Director. Sidni is a big help to her mother and really enjoys baking. Some of her responsibilities at home include helping with the kitchen duties, washing dishes every other day, household cleaning, vacuuming, dusting, and helping with the laundry. Her biggest contribution is helping with the baby and keeping up with her middle sister. Sidni works in the yard and picks up the trash for her father before he mows. She also shares in the care of the family’s dog by feeding and watering him.
Sidni is a new member of the Lakeview Church of the Nazarene. She attends the Children’s Church and Sunday school with her parents.
As a 6th grader at Cunningham Elementary School, Sidni maintains an A/B Average and says she enjoys Math class because she enjoys working with equations and terms. She is on the student council, a member of the orchestra, a choir member, and is on the CHYPS Club. Sidni also served as a Safety Patrol member.
Sidni plans to attend MSU learning how to be a motivating teacher someday.
Sidni has been a Boys & Girls Club member for the past six years and is active in various programs and activities including Cheerleading for her football team, gym activities, and running games room bumper pool carpet bowling and Ping-Pong tournaments. She loves assuming the leadership role of a Junior Staffer in the Learning Center and is a peer leader in the Club Tech Program. Sidni is a regular Smart Moves, Power Hour, and Healthy Habits participant. As a Torch Club member, she has been involved in over 20 different service activities and she has been a Torch Club member for two years!
Director Tori Smith said, “Sidni is always encouraging her friends to do the right thing and shares a smiley and helpful attitude in whatever department she is in!”
Jasmin is the 14 year old daughter of Rafael & Elena Vazquez.
Jasmin has been attending the Southwest Branch for six years. As a veteran member of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Wichita Falls, she has achieved and excelled in various areas of the Club. Her list of involvements includes the cheerleading in football, volleyball, Torch and Keystone leadership clubs, Power Hour, Tutorial Program, Fine Arts and Photography programs, Sign Language Club, Healthy Habits and Smart Moves Clubs, reading programs and is a member of the Birthday Committee. Jasmin is also a Junior Staff member and participates in the Learning for Life Program.
Though Jasmin does not go to church, she does have very high moral standards. She prays daily and makes a habit of reading from her Bible. She has always believed in treating others the way she wants to be treated.
Jasmin is an eighth grader at McNiel Jr. High and is maintaining an A/B average. She is a member of the Pre-Advanced Placement Program and has been picked by the faculty to participate as a member of Leadership Wichita Falls. Jasmin is determined to be a teacher and make a difference in the teaching profession!
Branch Director Ms. Tori Smith said, “Jasmin is a responsible, well mannered young lady who refuses to give into peer pressure just to be popular and is more interested in doing the right thing.”
